This is Hannah, our new optometrist! She will be at Grey St. Optician two days a week to share the eye test workload with Nic and Tim. Don’t worry, you will be in very safe hands! Hannah recently completed a Masters of Science in Optometry and works at the hospital eye department at the RVI 3days a week. In her spare time, she likes to keep fit and travel. We know you will love her!

Laura, Rachel and Hannah arrive in Paris for an international eyewear trade show. It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it!

Pilot’s glasses, or aviators, were originally designed in 1936 by Bausch & Lomb.
Many of you have, or have had, a pair of aviator sunglasses. Now, with a little refinement in shape and style, it’s aviator optical frames which are causing a stir!
At Grey Street we have aviators large and small! Technical, lightweight frames from Mykita or laid back west coast cool from Garrett Leight California Optical. Among our favourites in Garrett’s collection are the foldable ‘Van Buren’ model and the classic ‘Club House’ which is pictured above. Hula Blues is a collaboration between two juggernauts of the independent eyewear world!
Maui Jim have teamed up with Vinylize to produce a one-off Sunglass frame that is very special indeed.
The frame is handmade in the Vinylize factory in Budapest using upcycled records. The different grooves on the record making each frame unique.
The lenses have Maui Jim’s all singing, all dancing polarised plus 2 technology. They are amazing to look through!

The NE1 Newcastle Motor Show is the largest open-air city-centre motor show on some of Britain’s most beautiful streets. There are some real head-turners from Bentley, Aston Martin, Tesla, BMW and many more!
Make sure you have sunglasses to look the part in when viewing (or hopefully driving!) these beautiful cars! We are open until 5.30pm on Saturday 8th and 11.30 to 4.30pm on Sunday 9th!
